Our collector

LogoStats records which Bible passages are used, for example as the verse of the day. For a few sources an automatic collector reads the verse of the day once a day.

What it keeps: only the Bible reference (book, chapter, verses), the day, the address of the day's page and the record number of the feed. It never stores or shows the verse text or a devotional text.

How it reads: one request per source and day, to the source's public feed. Before that it reads the site's robots.txt and tdmrep.json. If a site forbids or reserves automated access, or refuses a request, the collector stops for that source and we are notified. It never works around a block.

It identifies itself in every request as:

LogoStats-collector/1.0 (+https://bible-verse-project.org/about/collector; kontakt@bible-verse-project.org)

Sources read every day:

Some sources are read once a year instead: the Herrnhuter Losungen (from the official yearly file, with the permission of the Evangelische Brüder-Unität) and the reading references of the Roman lectionary from the Liturgical Calendar API (Apache 2.0).

Collected references enter the database once a month and are checked by a person before they count in any statistic.

Do you run one of these sites and want the collector to stop, or do you have a question? Write to us; we will stop reading your site at once.
